Mire pues, le ayudo con la tareita hoy qu estoy como desparchado...:Audio Modem Riser is an Intel standard that defines a new architecture for the design of modern motherboards. AMR lets manufacturers create motherboards without analog I/O functions. Instead, these functions are placed on a separate card (with the codec chip) which plugs in to the motherboard so that the motherboard and ""riser"" card form a right angle. Separating the analog I/O functions from the motherboard means higher audio quality and reduced production delays. Intel Announces Audio/Modem Riser And Mobile Daughter Card Specifications — Another Step In Removing Legacy From PC Platforms New Specifications Ease Audio/Modem Integration on to Motherboard to Reduce Cost and Ease Certification SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 8, 1998 -- Intel Corporation announced today the availability of two new specifications, Audio/Modem Riser (AMR) and Mobile Daughter Card (MDC) for desktop and mobile platforms, which will make it easier to eliminate legacy support on the motherboard by removing design obstacles and lowering component costs. The AMR and MDC specifications will also ease the certification process. Developed with a core group of industry leaders in audio, modem and PC manufacturing, the new modular specifications make integration of audio/modem functions on to the motherboard easier by separating the analog I/O functions to a riser card for the desktop platform, or a daughter card for mobile. Details of the new specifications will be reviewed in depth at next week's Intel Developer Forum in Palm Springs, Calif. The new AMR specification defines a hardware scaleable OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) motherboard riser board and interface, which supports both audio and modem. By physically partitioning the portion of the modem that must be certified (analog I/O) onto a separate riser module, the motherboard development cycle is decoupled from any delays that would be associated with the modem certification process. This gives manufacturers more flexibility in system designs and eases domestic FCC and international telecom certification processes. Similarly, the MDC mobile specification provides the same benefits, but uses a smaller daughter card implementation to fit mobile form factors. The AMR and MDC specifications also help reduce the baseline audio and modem implementation cost, while addressing specific functional limitations of today's audio and modem subsystems. The AC'97 link offers a low-cost interface. With a standard solution, the desktop system manufacturer can implement audio and/or modem solutions on the motherboard at lower cost and free up industry standard expansion slots in the system for other additional plug-in peripherals. For mobile PCs, the MDC migrates audio and modem from the legacy ISA bus to the low cost AC'97 link, offering a low-cost and low-power solution. This makes the MDC ideally suited for basic and mini-notebook PCs, where cost and form factor are paramount.""With end users' demand for feature-rich PCs, combined with the industry's current trend toward lower cost, higher levels of integration are needed at all levels of the platform to help advance system capabilities and reduce cost,"" said Russ Hampsten, audio marketing manager, Intel Corporation. ""As legacy is freed from the motherboard it removes design obstacles, giving IHVs and PC OEMs greater flexibility and cost reductions. This means the end user receives the latest technology more quickly and at affordable prices.""Several major PC OEMs and Industry Hardware Vendors (IHVs), leaders in the PC, audio and modem industry, were involved in developing the specification. These include: 3COM, Analog Devices, IBM, Cirrus Logic, Creative Labs, Dell, Diamond Multimedia, ESS Technology, Fujitsu, Sony, Toshiba, GVC Technologies, Micron, Mitsubishi, Motorola, NEC, PCTel, Phoenix Research Groups, Rockwell Semiconductor Systems, Samsung, SigmaTel, TriTech Microelectronics, Xircom and Yamaha. Some of these companies are simultaneously announcing new products today which support the new Intel Audio/Modem Riser and Mobile Daughter card specifications.""We applaud Intel's efforts to provide reference specifications, such as Audio/Modem Riser and MDC, to the industry,"" said Tom Eichenberg, audio product line manager for Rockwell Semiconductor Systems. ""We support Intel in their drive to make audio and communications easier to implement at a lower cost for today's personal computing experience.""""Intel's Audio/Modem Riser and MDC specifications provide manufacturers added flexibility and speeds the cycle of delivering the latest technology to our customers,"" said Brad Blietz, dimension product marketing manager at Dell Computer Corporation. ""These specifications allow us to move forward more quickly on new technology advances, while lowering cost and shortening the time-to-market with new user features.""The backbone of the AMR and MDC interface, defined in the specifications, is based on an AC-link that is compliant with Intel's Audio Codec '97 version 2.1 specification. The AMR and MDC specifications define the architecture, required electrical characteristics of the riser or daughter card interface, mechanical and thermal requirements. A license for implementation of the AMR specification is provided on a non-discriminatory, reciprocal and royalty-free basis. The AMR specification is published and available for download at the Intel® AC'97 Web site, developer.intel.com/pc-supp/platform/ac97/.The mobile MDC specification Rev 0.8 is currently available. Those interested in providing input and learning more about the mobile specification can go to developer.intel.com/design/mobile/mdcspec. The final revision of the MDC is due out in Q4 1998.Two sessions entitled, ""Designing Audio/Modem Riser Solutions"" for desktops and ""Soft Technology Design Solutions for Basic and Mini-Notebooks"" will be presented at next week's Intel Developer Forum. The Intel Developer Forum is a three-day intensive semi-annual forum providing hardware OEMs and IHVs in-depth information on Intel technologies and initiatives. More information on the Intel Developer Forum can be found at developer.intel.com/idf. Updated information between Intel Developer Forums is available by subscribing to the Intel Developer Update Magazine at www.intel.com/update/.Intel, the world's largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products. esto si es bonito, aunque quisiera saber cuantas canas le quitan a Krieg pa poner en el pasaporte jejjejejejGermany To Issue Passports with Biometric Data This FallFirst passport in Europe to use RFID technology.John Blau, IDG News ServiceThursday, June 02, 2005DUSSELDORF, GERMANY -- Germany has taken a big step in the battle against organized crime and terrorism by unveiling a new passport with a chip that contains biometric data. The country plans to be among the first in Europe to issue biometric passes, starting Nov. 1.Otto Schily presented the German biometric passport at a ceremony in Berlin on yesterday, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. The new passport, valid for 10 years, will include an embedded RFID (radio frequency identification chip) that will initially store a digital photo of the passport holder's face. Starting in March 2007, the holder's left and right index fingerprints will also be stored on the chip. The reasons for using noncontact RFID chips are twofold: contact points in traditional chip cards are not designed for 10 years of use; and passports don't fit in present chip-card readers, according to Germany's Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).Readers ReadyGermany's new biometric passports are based on specifications approved in May by the New Technologies Working Group of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).At this year's CeBIT trade show in March in Hanover, Germany, BSI presented the first ICAO-compliant reader for the new passports. The RFID chip can only be read by certified reading devices. The European Union has asked for an extension of the Oct. 26 deadline imposed by Washington to implement new U.S. rules on issuing biometric passports. Washington is demanding that all passports issued by Australia, Japan, and E.U. member states after this deadline have biometric security elements for holders to enjoy visa-free U.S. visits of up to 90 days. Some critics warn that the chips could be scanned remotely, but Schily said this is not possible with the German version, which can only be scanned when the passport is open and the reading device has calculated a special access code.
OTR/PRESS.

This blog post discusses some of the platform innovations in Windows 7 and how Windows 7 applications have adopted and showcased these innovations. This post details some of the platform features that developers and partners can expect in Windows 7 and how Windows 7 programs have showcased these innovations. This post also discusses how applications have been given a facelift both in terms of their functionality as well as their user experience by focusing on key Windows design principles and platform innovations. Finally, this post can serve as a pointer or guide to application developers and ISVs to get themselves familiar with some of the key new Windows platform innovations, see them in action and then figure out how they can build on these APIs for their own software. The post is organized by each subsystem, and how Windows applets are using that particular subsystem. The Windows Ribbon User Interface is the next generation rich, new user interface for Windows development. The Windows Ribbon brings the now familiar Office 2007 Ribbon user interface to Windows 7, making it available to application developers and ISVs.There are several advantages of adopting the Windows Ribbon user interface, many of which have been talked about in the Office 2007 blogs. The Ribbon provides a rich, graphical user interface for all commands in a single place, without the need to expose various functions and commands under different menus or toolbars. The Ribbon UI is direct and self-explanatory, and has a labelled grouping of logically related commands. While using an application that is built on the Ribbon UI platform, the user only needs to focus on his workflow and the context of his task, rather than worry about where a particular function is located or accessible. The Ribbon UI also takes care of layout and provides consistency as compared to toolbars which the user can customize in terms of their sizes, location and contents. It also has built-in and improved keyboard accessibility, and making the application DPI and theme aware becomes easier by using the Ribbon. Finally, development and changes to the user interface is very quick and rapid due to the XML-markup based programming model for the Ribbon User Interface.Paint and Wordpad are two of the first consumers of the Windows Ribbon UI Platform. In Windows 7, both these applications are enhanced with a set of new features, and the user interface of these applications also required to be brought up to the Windows 7 experience and standards. The Windows Ribbon UI is a great fit for these applications to revamp their user experience and make it consistent, and make these applications rich, fun and easy to use. The tasks and commands in these applications were amenable to be applied to the Ribbon UI framework, and it also served as an opportunity for popular native Windows applications to showcase the Windows Ribbon UI platform to consumers, as well as developers and ISVs. Many has asked about the Windows Explorer and IE also using the ribbon, which we did not plan on for Windows 7. Our Windows 7 focus was on the platform and demonstrating the platform for document-centric applications such as Paint and Wordpad. Both these applications showcase several elements of the Windows UI Ribbon. The Application Menu of both Paint and Wordpad exposes Application related commands that are typically available thru the ‘File’ menu of an application. Both the applications have a core tab set that consists of ‘Home’, which exposes most of the commands in the application, and ‘View’ which exposes the image or document viewing options in the application. The commands in both these tabs are laid out logically in groups of related functionality.A quick access toolbar (QAT) is provided by both Paint and Wordpad, which comes with certain defaults like Save, Undo and Redo that are meaningful to the application. The user can customize the QAT by using the QAT drop-down, or right-click on any command or group in the ribbon and add it to the QAT.Several ribbon commands are used in both these applications, like command buttons, split buttons, galleries, drop-downs, check boxes and toggle buttons.Further, both applications provide a ‘Print preview’ mode which shows a print preview of the image or the document in context. In a mode, all the core tabs are removed and only the mode is displayed for the user to interact with. On exiting a mode, the user is returned to the core tab set.Paint also exposes a contextual tab for the Text tool, which is displayed only when a text control is drawn on canvas. A contextual tab shown next to the core tab set when the text tool is in focus, and removed when the text is applied to the image on the canvas. The contextual tab set contains the tools that are specific and relevant only to the text tool. Both the applications provide live previews through ribbon galleries, for example the font size and font name for Wordpad and Paint while formatting text, bullets and lists in Wordpad, and color selection, outline size selection and outline and fill styles for shapes in Paint. A live preview allows the user to see the changes instantaneously on mouse hover, and then apply those changes on a selection. These previews are one of the key elements of the ribbon UI and demonstrate why the metaphor is much more than a “big toolbar” but a new interaction style.By adopting the Ribbon User Interface, both the applications inherit built-in keyboard accessibility support using ribbon Keytips, have tooltips on all commands, and have ready support for DPI and Windows themes.Paint and Wordpad can serve as examples of how the Ribbon UI can be easily used in MFC applications. The Windows Ribbon presents new opportunities and options for developers and ISVs to develop applications with the Ribbon User Interface. The Windows Scenic Ribbon programming model and architecture emphasizes the separation of the markup file and the C++ code files to help developers decouple the presentation and customization of the UI from the underlying application code. The platform also promotes developer-designer workflow, where the developer can focus on the application logic, while the designer can work on the UI presentation and layout. The ribbon UI is a significant investment for us and you should expect to see us continue to use it more throughout Microsoft, including an implementation in the .NET Framework as was demonstrated by Scott Guthrie at the PDC, which will be built on Windows 7 natively in the future.Windows 7 provides support for multi-touch input data, as well as supporting multi-touch in Win32 via Windows messages. The investments in the multi-touch platform include the developer platform that exposes touch APIs to applications, enhancing the core user interface in Windows 7 to optimize for touch experiences, and providing multi-touch gestures for applications to consume. Developers on Windows 7 can build on these APIs decide on the appropriate level of touch support they would like to provide in their software.Wordpad enhances the document reading experience by using the multi-touch platform and using the zoom and pan gestures. Zooming, panning and inertia lets the user get to a particular piece of content very quickly in an intuitive fashion. By using the zoom gesture, the user can zoom in or zoom out of the document which is akin to using the zoom slider at the right of the Wordpad status bar. On multi-touch capable hardware, the user can zoom in and out of the document by placing his fingers anywhere within the document window and executing the zoom gesture. Wordpad also supports the pan gesture to pan thru the pages of a document that is open in Wordpad. By executing the pan gesture, the user can scroll-down or scroll-up a document similar to using the scroll bar of the Wordpad application. In Paint multi-touch data is used to allow users to paint with multiple fingers. It is an example of an application that allows multi-touch input without the usage of gestures. For Paint’s functionality, providing multiple finger painting ability was more compelling and enriching than allowing for zoom, pan, rotate or other gestures that act on the picture in a read-only mode and not in an edit-mode. New brushes in Paint are multi-touch enabled, and they handle touch inputs via multiple fingers and allow the user to simultaneously draw strokes on canvas on finger drag. These brushes are also pressure-sensitive, thereby providing a realistic experience with touch by varying the stroke width based on the pressure on the screen. While adopting the multi-touch platform to enhance the end-user experience in Paint, conscious design decisions were made to preserve the single touch experience for functionalities where a multi-touch scenario does not apply such as the color picker, magnifier and text tool.By building with the multi-touch APIs, Paint and Wordpad have created more natural and intuitive interfaces on touch-enabled hardware and show “out of the box” how different capabilities can be exposed by developers in their software.Sticky Notes (or just Notes) is an extension of a TabletPC applet available in Windows 7. One of the things which was key to the Notes experience on the desktop was to have the ability to quickly take all the notes away and get them back, but still making sure it is really easy to create a new note. We achieved this by having a single top level window for the sticky notes application. You can minimize all your notes and view a stack of notes in the preview on the command bar with a single click. The stacked preview has been achieved using the new thumbnail preview APIs that enable apps to override the default taskbar previews that are essentially a redirected snapshot of the top level application window, and provide their own. This enables applications to decouple their previews from the top level application window and provide a more productive preview based on the scenario. For example, this was very valuable in Sticky Note scenarios where a quick peek at a note that was last touched provides for quite a productive workflow. Taskbar also caches the preview thumbnail images so once the preview is given to the Taskbar, the application does not need to keep it around – the application does however need to send an updated preview whenever it changes.Another nifty customization end-point on the task bar is the destination menu (aka jumplist). This menu comes up when a user right clicks on the application in the taskbar or hovers over the application icon in the Start Menu. The Sticky Notes application does not have a single main application window – this makes the application feel really light weight and fits in well into the Windows 7 philosophy of creating simple and powerful user experiences. The challenge then was exposing functionality such as the ability to create a new note from a central location or potentially other custom “tasks”. The destination menu helped exposing these scenarios in a simple yet discoverable way.The new taskbar functionality and extensibility built in that has the potential to make it a lot easier for people to work with applications/scenarios in a more productive and efficient manner when developers integrate their software with the Windows desktop.Building on the long history of Search in Windows and the significant enhancements in Windows 7, there are APIs available to developers to deeply integrate their content types with the desktop search user experience affordances in Windows 7. Sticky Notes shows one example of how these APIs can be used. The Sticky Notes application now allows users to get back to their notes by simply searching for content through Windows Inline search within the start menu. This is in line with allowing users to reach the relevant note as quickly as possible even when the application is closed. Even though search could be done for both Text and Ink content, it is restricted to text because of lower success rates with varied handwriting styles in ink. The application registers a protocol handler that generates a URL for each Note. The Sticky Notes Filter handler gets asked for the content associated with each note that is then indexed by the Search infrastructure. These indexes are then used to perform a quick lookups when the user searches the Search interfaces provided by the Windows Shell. When a user clicks on a result, Search invokes the associated application with the URL corresponding to the one that the protocol handler had generated that the Filter handler associated with the content it sent to the Search indexer. The search platform also has the ability to enable the filter handler to specify the language of each chunk of content passed on to it that overrides the default Search heuristics used to compute the language - this increases Search accuracy manifold and thereby enhances internationalization support of the entire ecosystem. The reason Sticky Notes implemented a protocol handler in addition to a Filter handler was because it implements its own integrated storage schema on top of the Windows File system - all the notes are represented by a single .snt file. The protocol handler generates URL's to individual entities (in this case - notes); the filter handler picks out content for each of these URL's and gives it to Search for indexing. This demonstrates the ease in which applications can plug into the search platform in Windows 7, and add search handlers which can enhance the overall user experience from the App as well as the platform.Real-Time Stylus (RTS) is infrastructure that provides access to the stylus events coming from pen or touches digitizers. It provides information about strokes and points and provides access to ink-related events. Using RTS, applications can get access to stylus information and develop compelling end-user scenarios and experiences.Sticky Notes now allows the users to Ink and Type on notes depending on the availability of inking hardware. Users can use keyboard input to type on notes and use the stylus to ink on notes. Though the experience has been designed keeping in mind that users will either use either ink or text on a particular note, it does allow users to ink and type on the same note. However these surfaces are maintained agnostic to each other. Sticky Notes also auto-grows the note while inking on the note, providing a real-time experience of the note adjusting its size to fit the inked content.Real Time Stylus (RTS) is used for inking features provided in Sticky Notes. Inking gestures are also available to applications, and the scratch out gesture has been implemented in Sticky Notes to delete content. In addition, Paint uses RTS to get a stream of positional input from mouse, stylus or touch which are used for drawing strokes on canvas. Paint also captures additional input variables like pressure and touch surface area when such input is available from the digitizer, and maps these inputs into the stroke algorithms that are used to generate Paint strokes on canvas. Using this algorithm, the user is able to modulate stroke width and other parameter based on the pressure or touch area on canvas.Using RTS allows the development of applications and software that can build on the inking platform and provide ways to interact with the application that go beyond mouse or keyboard. Using stylus, inking and gestures, developers can create interactive experiences for end-users.The Windows Error Reporting (WER) infrastructure is a set of feedback technologies that is built into Windows 7 and other earlier versions of Windows client and server. WER allows applications to register for application failures and capture this data for end-users who agree to report it. This data can be accessed and analyzed and can be used to monitor error trends and download debug information to help developers and ISVs determine the root cause for application failures.WER can add value to software development at various stages: during development, during beta testing by getting early feedback from end-users, after the release of the product by analysing and prioritizing the top fixes, and at end of life of the product.Related to failure recovery, Applications can also register with WER for restart on application of a Windows patch that terminates the application and on application of an update that reboots the computer, as well as failure caused due to an application crash or hang or not responding state. Applications can optionally register for recovery of lost data, can develop their own mechanism for recovery.Several Windows applications adopt the WER infrastructure to collect and analyze data. Calculator, Paint and Wordpad register for restart and additionally recover the current data in the sessions of the application that were running. Sticky Notes also registers for restart and recovery, and returns the user to the set of notes open on the desktop. Using WER, end-users would allow Windows to capture and collect problem data and then would be returned to the applications in the same state that they were in earlier. As you can see, our primary effort for the applets in Windows 7 is to showcase some of the new platform APIs and innovations available to developers. As you get to try out these applications you will see that while showcasing the Windows 7 platform innovations, we have also added some commonly requested features and functionality. Some of them are: Check and correct, calculation modes and templates in --Riyaz Pishori and teamTomado de Engineering Windows 7

Have you ever been playing a game and wished that you could make everything run faster? For example, in the Pokemon games you spend a lot of time leveling up. It would be real useful if you could speed up the game so that you can get more done in a shorter amount of time. I have discovered a way to make this happen. I have “overclocked” my Game Boy Advance so that it can run at double the normal speed. I am not familiar with how computers are overclocked, which I think has something to do with BIOS settings, but this is a totally hardware based project. You don't need to change any programming in the games. You just need to be able to solder small areas of the Game Boy's circuit board.I don't remember exactly how I got the idea, but there was an old website that I found explaining how you can replace the Crystal Oscillator in an original Game Boy to change how fast it plays. I have spent a good amount of time researching this topic, and now that I have overclocked my own GBA, I decided that it would be a good idea to show other people how to do this. I don't know of a good place that explains in detail (in English) how to overclock a Game Boy, so I will now present a step by step guide in how to overclock a Game Boy.A Quick SummaryAs I've been writing this guide, explaining all the details, it has turned out to be pretty long. Before explaining in depth, here is a quick summary of how to overclock a Game Boy Advance. - Unscrew and remove the back cover of the GBA. - Unscrew and lift the circuit board to reveal the front circuit. - Solder an 8 Mhz crystal oscillator in parallel with the 4.194Mhz surface mount oscillator that is on the circuit board. Connect a switch between the connection of both oscillators so that you can disable the mod whenever you like.- Cut/drill a hole in the case and affix the switch into that space.- Put the GBA back together and enjoy! The CPU & Crystal OscillatorThe reason that a Game Boy is able to play games is because it has a microprocessor; kind of like a PC. This processor is kind of like a brain that tells the rest of the Game Boy what to do. It reads the game data in from the cartridge and communicates with the other electronic components, allowing the game to be played. The processor (I'll call it a CPU for now) runs at a set speed that is controlled by an oscillator crystal. The oscillator crystal has an internal structure that vibrates at a controlled frequency, allowing an electronic pulse to be created at that frequency. These pulses are sent to the CPU, telling it when to take its next step. Since every pulse is separated by the same amount of time, the CPU runs at a constant speed. Changing the SpeedThe Oscillator Crystal in all Game Boys, original up to Micro (excluding the GBC which I think has an 8.? Mhz crystal), has a frequency of 4.194 Mhz. This means that 4.194 million pulses are created every second. If an oscillator with a different frequency was connected to the GB circuit, it would run at a different speed. This can also be done with a Nintendo DS, but using greater valued crystals than the Game Boy. Double Speed Game BoyBy connecting an oscillator with a frequency greater than 4.194Mhz, you can make the GB run at a greater speed. I didn't want to kill my GBA by speeding it up too fast, so I decided to use an 8Mhz crystal to allow me to run at double speed (Yes, I know 2 x 4.194 doesn't equal 8. Its close enough.) By connecting the contacts of the faster oscillator to the same points in the circuit where the original oscillator are connected, this will cause the Game Boy to run at the faster speed. I used a switch to connect the faster oscillator to the circuit, so I can disable it when I want to run a game at normal speeds. Materials- Game Boy- soldering iron & solder- 3 thin wires - stranded wire will work best- 8 Mhz oscillator crystal - the aluminum can type that has two leads- a small 2 position switch- epoxy (optional)*WARNING*Do not modify your Game Boy unless you are willing to take the risk that you will break it. This will void your warrentee and I can not guarantee that these overclocking instructions will work as well for you as they did for me. I don't know how stable it will be in the long run. Mine runs fine now, but there are chances that overclocking may shorten the life of the Game Boy's components. Do not attempt this process unless you are confident in your abilities to take things apart and put them back together the same way. You need to be able to solder two small spots on the Game Boy's circuit board without touching any other spots, or applying too much heat.Practice FirstIf you want to practice soldering beforehand, find a VCR, computer, or other device that someone threw out (that has a circuit board with surface mount components). Practice soldering wires to small surface mount components without causing them to be damaged. If you apply too much heat to the component, you can destroy it and cause it to come off the board.*WARNING*Before opening the Game Boy, find a clean, static free workplace that has good lighting. You don't want to loose any screws or destroy any static sensitive components.Open the Game Boy AdvanceThe GBA is held together by a few “triwing” screws. These look like similar to a philips head screw, but with only 3 slots. />You can use a small precision flat head screwdriver to turn these screws (counter-clockwise). You just need to press firmly to keep the tip from slipping around in the head of the screw./>Keep all the screws in a safe place. I used an Altoids mints can. There are 6 triwing screws on the back of the GBA, and there is one small black philips head screw in the battery compartment. Once the screws are out, the back cover should come off easily (remove the batteries and game cart first)./>(Sorry about the tiny picture. Some of the photos I took were corrupted so I had to take a screen shot of the thumbnail icons.)/>Carefully remove the back cover, watching how the shoulder buttons and side plastic pieces fit into place. You will now see the back of the circuit board. The Oscillator is on the other side./>Remove the shoulder buttons, side plastic pieces, and the plastic cover for the power switch. Place them safely with your screws. />Remove the three philips head screws that are holding down the board. One is on the left, above the speaker wires, and there are two on the right near the capacitors (silver cans). Carefully lift the board off of the front cover. It will be connected to the screen (in the front cover) by a flat, orange, conductor cable at the top. Just lift the bottom of the board so you can flip it over while keeping the front cover (with the screen) facing downwards. The buttons and screen are in the front cover, so you will want to keep them in place. Be careful that you do not remove this flat cable. />Locating the OscillatorTurn the board around so that you can see the D-Pad and Start Select contacts on the left hand side. You will see two chips soldered to the board between the D-Pad and the CPU. The CPU is the largest chip in the center of the board. It has many pins on all four sides (and should have “CPU AGB” printed on it). Of the two smaller chips, one has 9 pins on each side, and the other has two soldered contacts on each side. The Oscillator is the taller one that has two contacts on each side. Mine has “KDS 0114 4.194” printed on it. You can see this on the top right edge of the following picture./>Choosing a New OscillatorWhen you choose an oscillator to use for this project, you want to find one that looks like a metal oval with two wires sticking out the bottom. There are varieties that are shaped more like a rectangular box with four wires in the bottom, but they have some extra circuitry inside. We just want the crystal oscillator. If you are looking over old circuit boards, you may find a different kind that looks like a blue plastic coated oval around the size of a Tic-Tac, with two wires sticking out the bottom. These would probably work the same as the kind I used. You can see in the picture below that I just plugged the oscillator leads into a 3 position connector that already had wires attached./>Preparing the Oscillator and SwitchNow that you have your Game Boy open, you can attach the new oscillator. First you need to decide where you are going to fit the oscillator and switch. I have a semi transparent purplish case (“Glacier” I think), so I was able to see where there would be room for the oscillator and switch to fit between the back cover and the board once it was all put back together again.I chose to place my switch behind the “L” button, in the back cover. The switch I used was small enough to fit between the cartridge slot and the column that holds a screw. I placed the oscillator in the space between the back cover and the board, just above the power switch. Once you have decided where to place the switch and oscillator, cut 3 thin wires to the lengths needed for one to reach from the oscillator in the circuit board, to where the switch will be located, another from the switch to the new oscillator, and another to complete the connection from the new oscillator to the other contact in the original oscillator. />Solder one wire to the center contact of the switch (common to both positions). The end of this wire will connect to the GBA oscillator. Solder another wire to a side contact of the switch. Then solder the other end of that wire to one of the leads of the new oscillator. Solder the last wire to the other lead of the new oscillator. This will be connected to the other contact of the GBA oscillator. You can see this in the picture below./>When looking at the surface mount oscillator in the GBA, you can see that there are two contacts soldered into the board on each side. The top contacts on each side are connected together, and the bottom contacts on each side are also connected, so you only need to connect the switch/oscillator wires to contacts on one side. As can be seen in the picture below, there are four very small resistors close to the oscillator in the right side. I didn't want to chance messing them up, so I chose to solder the wires to the left side. />Soldering the Wires to the OscillatorNow comes the part where you must be the most careful. You must solder the wires to the surface mount oscillator attached to the GBA circuit board. First make sure that the wire insulation is stripped away so that you have enough room to solder the wire to the spot where oscillator is soldered to the board. If you look closely in the above picture, you can see that I soldered the wires sideways into the solder ball connecting to the oscillator. This makes a stronger connection than if you were to try soldering the tip if the wire to the solder pad. Tin the wires, making sure that there is extra solder at the end. You must be very careful that you don't apply the soldering iron for too long a time. If you heat up the oscillator too much, it may loosen from the circuit board.Lay the wire so that it rests on top of the soldered oscillator connection. Touch the iron to the tinned wire, and hold it in place just long enough for the solder around the wire and the solder already on the board to melt together. This is why you want to coat the wire in solder beforehand. There needs to be enough solder to make a solid connection between the solder pad, the oscillator, and the wire.Remove the iron, making sure to hold the wire very still for a few seconds until the solder hardens. Repeat these steps to solder both wires in place. It will be best to lay them flat against the board in a what that will not get in the way when you put everything back together. Wire RoutingAs you can see in the picture above, I have run the wires downward, and around the inside of the corner of the circuit board. I have found that there is a small gap at that location where you can fit the wires between the battery compartment and the circuit board. If you want to take extra precautions, you can apply epoxy around the wires to glue them to a bare area of the board. This will hold them in place more strongly while you put the Game Boy back together and put the switch in place. Positioning the SwitchNow that the wires have been soldered to the oscillator, and routed around to the back side of the board, you can flip it back onto the front cover and screw it back in place. You may want to place the plastic power switch cover back in place first though, since it may be more difficult to do so once the board is screwed down. Now drill or cut a hole the right size and shape for the switch to be accessible from outside of the cover. I used a Dremel tool to drill a hole, and then used a small file to shape the hole into a rectangular shape. Make sure that you give enough room for the switch to slide between both positions. If the switch is a little hard to fit in place, you can file away some extra plastic around it. You can see in the picture below, where I placed my switch. Once the switch is positioned in the hole, glue it in place so that it doesn't move when you turn it on and off. I used a hot glue gun, though other types of glue or epoxy will hold it stronger. />Now you can finish closing up the cover. Place the oscillator in a location where it won't be squeezed between the back cover and board components. If it keeps moving out of place, just use a little tape. I also wrapped it in electrical tape so that there will be no problems of it accidentally touching components in the circuit board and shorting them out. THE END!

pues esto es lo que vi en el manual de la motherboard...1-4 Installing the MemoryRead the following guidelines before you begin to install the memory:• Make sure that the motherboard supports the memory. It is recommended that memory ofthe same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used.(Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest memory support list.)• Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet beforeinstalling the memory to prevent hardware damage.• Memory modules have a foolproof design. A memory module can be installed in only onedirection. If you are unable to insert the memory, switch the direction.1-4-1 Dual Channel Memory ConfigurationThis motherboard provides two DDR2 memory sockets and supports Dual ChannelTechnology. After the memory is installed, the BIOS will automatically detect thespecifications and capacity of the memory. Enabling Dual Channel memory modewill double the original memory bandwidth. The two DDR2 memory sockets (DDRII_1, DDRII_2) are divided into two channels as following:Channel 0: DDRII_1Channel 1: DDRII_2Due to CPU limitation, read the following guidelines before installing the memory in Dual Channel mode.1. Dual Channel mode cannot be enabled if only one DDR2 memory module is installed.2. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two memory modules, it is recommended thatmemory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used.DDRII_1DDRII_2GA-M61PME-S2 Motherboard - 16 -1-4-2 Installing a MemoryNotchDDR2 DIMMA DDR2 memory module has a notch, so it can only fit in one direction. Follow the steps below tocorrectly install your memory modules in the memory sockets. Before installing a memory module , make sure to turn off the computer and unplugthe power cord from the power outlet to prevent damage to the memory module.DDR2 DIMMs are not compatible to DDR DIMMs. Be sure to install DDR2 DIMMs onthis motherboard.Step 1:Note the orientation of the memory module. Spread the retainingclips at both ends of the memory socket. Place the memorymodule on the socket. As indicated in the picture on the left, place your fingers on the top edge of the memory, push downon the memory and insert it vertically into the memory socket.Step 2:The clips at both ends of the socket will snap into place whenthe memory module is securely inserted.esta seguro que los dos modulos de memoria son identicos???Saludos!!!
Among the changes:• Bump-drafting rules will be eliminated at Daytona and Talladega Superspeedway. Teams also will use a bigger restrictor plate at Daytona.Eliminating bump-drafting rules puts responsibility for on-track moves squarely back in drivers' hands. Larger restrictor plates give drivers more horsepower.• The wing mounted on the rear on the Sprint Cup Series' new car will be replaced with a spoiler. A full-field test is scheduled for March 23-24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Following that, a decision on when to implement the spoiler will be made based on teams' input. The switch from wing to spoiler will return to a more traditional stock-car look.""Over the last couple of years, there have been dozens of changes to this car, with this being the most visible change,"" said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition.• Cup Series director John Darby has been promoted to managing director of competition, with oversight of all three national series' directors, officials, inspection processes and race officiating. He will continue in his series director's role until his successor is found.""Probably no one is more qualified for this new job than John,"" Pemberton said. ""He knows and understands the officiating and inspection processes better than anyone and is the perfect fit.""Other changes announced Thursday:• Mike Fisher, managing director of NASCAR's R&D Center, has some additions to his team. They include Brett Bodine as the director of racing, Tom Gideon as director of safety and Jamie DiPietro as manager of safety inspections.• Beginning with the Feb. 13 season opener at Daytona, Nationwide Series teams will be limited to 15 crew members, including the driver, crew chief, spotter and seven over-the-wall pit-crew members. Teams also won't be required to provide a scorer. Last year teams had no limit on at-track crew members.• Nationwide Series teams may run no more than two races in 2010 without using an engine sealed by series officials. Last year they could run three races before using a sealed engine.• Camping World Truck Series teams will use double-file restarts ""shootout style"" in 2010, making restart rules uniform across all three national series. Teams also will return to traditional pit stops, eliminating last year's procedure of refueling and changing tires on separate stops. Teams also may use a new, vented fuel dump can, eliminating the need for a catch can.
